Frequently
Asked
Questions
Q: What do you specialize in?
A: I work with thoughtful, curious, deeply feeling people who are going through a time of longing for something different. Sometimes that something different is for your relationship with others or perhaps with yourself.
While I work with clients around all sorts of matters, I especially enjoy working with people trying to make peace with food, exercise and their body; with parents trying to break generational cycles with their children and in their marriages; with people trying to show up fully in their relationships and communicate their needs and desires in a clear, compassionate way.
Q: How do you work?
A: Generally, I’m a depth therapist who believes that change happens over time in a relationship of safety and trust. However, I also work with some clients on a more short-term basis, depending on the scope of their goals and needs.
I pull from a variety of different modalities and trainings, including Internal Family Systems, Attachment-Focused EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples & Individuals, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
I aim for our time together to be productive. I will sometimes provide recommendations for readings or podcasts to complement our work. Often there will be something from our session that I will want you to tune into or experiment with over the following week so we can discuss in the next session.
Q: What is the commitment for 1:1 therapy?
A: Within the first month most people feel the benefit of having support and attention for their process. For therapy to be a meaningful change process, I ask you to commit to weekly 50-minute sessions, which I recognize is an investment of your energy and resources.
The length of time in therapy depends on what we’re working on and your commitment to the process. Consistency and frequency are important to get the most out of the time you invest.
Most of my clients are in therapy for around 6-12 months, and some for longer periods of time. Some of my most impactful work has been with clients who I have worked with on and off over many seasons of their lives.
It is always your decision when to end therapy, and I will respect it.
Q: Do you see clients every other week for 1:1 therapy?
A: I don’t, not to start. For some clients, if we’ve worked together for a long time, our relationship is established, and it is clinically appropriate, we might shift our meetings to another cadence.
Q: Do you offer video or in-person sessions?
A: I currently offer virtual therapy, via Zoom, to clients across California. For coaching clients, I am able to work with clients regardless of geography.
Q: What is your fee for 1:1 therapy?
A: My fee is $215 / 50 minute session.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I’m an out-of-network provider, meaning I do not bill your insurance directly. Many clients receive partial reimbursement by submitting claims for out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to provide a monthly or quarterly receipt (“superbill”) to support that process. You can also use FSA or HSA funds to pay for sessions.
