How We'll Work Together...​


If this is your first experience with therapy, it's totally normal to wonder what we'll do together.  So that you're more comfortable, I'd like to tell you a bit about what it's like to work with me.


Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed or unhappy, and you already have an idea of what you want to work on in therapy. Or maybe you’re not sure, but you just feel like you aren’t getting what you want out of life.  Either way, our time together will be as much about noticing what is working for you as it is about addressing what feels hurt and overwhelmed. 


In our first few sessions, it’s important for me to learn about what brought you here and what you'd like to work on together. We'll set goals together and I'll share my thoughts on what I think we should explore further.


Then we’ll dig deeper and look at the patterns of behaviors and beliefs that may be holding you back.  I believe these patterns exist for a reason.  We often find that they have been protecting our vulnerable parts.  Together, we’ll practice doing things a bit differently. 


I believe that therapy is a balance of support and challenge. Sometimes therapy will feel hard. Examining and shifting old patterns requires emotional work. We’ll find the right balance together so that you feel supported in your growth without feeling overwhelmed.
